This joyful and gentle introduction to Latin makes language learning lively, musical, and memorable. Students will practice Latin vocabulary through songs, chants, stories, and creative activities that connect Latin words to English meanings and roots, thereby expanding their English vocabulary.

Purpose & Process:

The goal of this course is to ignite a love of language and provide young learners with an early understanding of Latin’s influence on other languages. Latin is not a “dead” language; the study of Latin improves English vocabulary, grammar mastery, reading comprehension, and analytical thinking.

Each week introduces an engaging lesson with new vocabulary, pronunciation practice, and simple grammar concepts, reinforced through interactive songs, coloring pages, classroom games, activities, and engaging projects. Students will also enjoy learning Latin prayers, mottos, and cultural connections to history and Scripture.

By the end of the year, students will be able to recognize and use dozens of Latin words and phrases, understand many English derivatives, and build confidence for future Latin and language studies.

Student Responsibilities:

• Practice Latin vocabulary daily using flashcards, chants, songs, or review sheets.

• Complete weekly worksheets and bring them to class.

• Review chants and songs introduced in class to strengthen memory and pronunciation.

• Participate actively at home by reciting words, singing songs, and practicing chants.

• Come prepared and ready to participate.

Parent/Primary Educator Responsibilities:

• Ensuring consistent vocabulary practice at home (5–10 minutes/4 days a week).

• Making sure weekly assignments are completed (20 minutes/4 days a week).

• Administer and grade quizzes.

• Listening to chants and songs with their students to reinforce memorization.
