STUDENTS LEARN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF USING A COMPUTER! Apps, file creation, file management, file storage, printing & more! These are the basics before learning to code :)
Kids will learn Microsoft Office & Windows Applications:
Word (word processing)
Excel (spreadsheets)

Publisher (newsletters, letterhead, greeting cards, etc.)

In a fun and creative workshop-style class, each week we will study a new topic and create a take-home project for their computer notebook. By the end of the year, your child will have completed 33 projects of which to be proud: letter, envelope, address label, book report, greeting card, PowerPoint presentation, a reading log and more! They will also learn how a computer is made. This is a great class to introduce kids to the usefulness of computers beyond games and email, and prepare them for a high school level Computer Applications course.

Computer Applications

Kickstart your student’s technology by learning technology applications used in their academic career. Designed for upper Elementary and Middle School students, this course will teach students to integrate the applications necessary in order to succeed in their academic junior high and high school careers. Students will learn and develop skills that includes:
Google Applications (including Drive and Classroom)
Computer basics
Internet basics
Internet safety and cyberbullying navigation
AI tools
Canva
Professional and Informal Email
Resumes
Research & Copyright
Vision Boards, and
Tech Savvy Tips
This course will be conducted through lectures, engaging activities, hands-on practice, and discussions. Fun and interactive projects will be provided with two semester projects. Laptop computers required for class (PC or Mac). All materials will be provided. Homework is expected to be under 1 hour per week.
Students who take this course will be prepared to use any of these applications in future courses in any subject in order to be successful. Get ahead of the game and learn how these applications work before they are needed.
Keyboarding
Suggested Age:
7-19
Learning how to type on a computer keyboard made fun with games, contests and prizes! Every 2 weeks there is a competition to see how much each student has improved in speed and accuracy. The fastest doesn't always win, because each student competes against himself!
Average speed increase of 20 wpm!
When should a child begin to learn keyboarding? Research states that 8 years old is a good age because students have developed the coordination and manual dexterity to keyboard efficiently. (www.keyboardingresearch.org)
Homework: 10-20 minutes of typing 4 days a week

Suggested Age:

Learn ADVANCED Microsoft Office Suite using Microsoft certification track manuals
Covers advanced techniques in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access & OneNote.
Great for students who need Technology Applications credit and already have some experience with Microsoft Office programs!
Fulfills 1 credit state requirement for Technology Applications
