This course is intended for students who want a review or refresher of basic phonics concepts, so students should have had some prior instruction in letter-sound correspondence but who may struggle to master those concepts or simply need a short refresher. Topics include: alphabetic principle—letter and sound correspondence, along with the short and long vowel concepts, a vowel review, and common sight word mastery. A review of syllables, suffixes, and VCCV (vowel/consonant/consonant/vowel) patterns, and a general review for beginning readers.
