Transition Math

Prerequisites
Elementary Math 4/5 or something equivalent
Purpose
This course moves students from arithmatic to pre-algebra in 1 year. This can help a student catch up, or help ensure that a student gets to calculus by age 16. Transition Math completes the process of mastering transitional topics, including measurement, partial amounts, place value, and arithmetic word problems. When a student completes this course, he or she is completely ready for Pre-algebra and the beginning of algebraic reasoning.

This course may be done after Transition Math by Swarbrick and Miller or an equivalent course.
Process/Purpose
This course introduces several key algebraic topics which are foundational to a high school mathematics sequence. Work from the workbook helps reinforce key concepts, and is provided to the students on the first day of class.
